New York Residency

Métier’s New York Residency invites visitors to experience our collections in the heart of Soho. Métier Creative Director Melissa Morris conceived the space in collaboration with designers Akari Endo-Gaut and Currie Ritchie, blending Art Deco elegance with the relaxed minimalism of 90s New York. The interior’s espresso-stained wood walls and banquette seating provide a warm backdrop for custom, brushed-aluminum display tables and black-lacquer plinths. Monolithic, Richard Serra-inspired shapes are juxtaposed with soft, sensual fabric draped throughout the space, infusing it with a sense of drama. 

Design details include vintage furniture and contemporary artworks curated by Endo-Gaut from local and international galleries, including London’s Somerset House, New York’s Galerie Was and Amagansett’s Galerie Sardine. A tuareg rug anchors the front of the space in the spirit of travel, while a Jean Prouvé door celebrates the beauty of functional design. In the back, a bar framed by soft yellow fabric welcomes guests to enjoy a coffee or a glass of wine.
