Métier is luxury that lasts – an investment for life, to be treasured for generations to come. We’ve asked some of our friends to showcase their most treasured pieces for the first edition of the Métier Time Capsule.

Métier is luxury that lasts–an investment for life, to be treasured for generations to come. Crafted from only the best materials from Italy and France, each bag is meant to be worn-in and get better with time.

For the first edition of the Métier time capsule, we've asked some of our closest friends about their most treasured Métier pieces. From founder & designer Melissa’s 3 year old Private Eye to Leonardo’s Vagabond worn everyday for the last two years, each piece reflects the journey of its wearer.

To share the journey of your Métier so far, tag or DM us @metier.london with your unique story.

Melissa’s Private Eye, 3 Years Old

“My Private Eye is my go-to bag. It’s elegant on the outside yet a workhorse on the inside. I have a particular obsession with Atelier Calfskin–It’s from a French tannery that typically only sells to one other house, but I was determined that they make an exception for Métier. After 3 months of constant follow-up, they finally approved and are now one of our most supportive suppliers.”

Leonardo’s Vagabond All Day, 2 Years Old

“I love the versatility of this bag, it is perfect for every occasion and my favourite travel companion when flying for work or pleasure. It’s rock ‘n’ roll attitude is an eye catcher!”

Sara’s Perriand City, 2 Years Old

“I love that my bag looks even better with age. There’s something so elevated about the way the leather wears. It’s more handsome and has become this timeless piece that everyone comments on…”

Anny’s Vagabond Duffle, 1 Year Old

“This duffle has travelled with me everywhere from a road trip upstate when I lived in New York, to across the pond to London when I moved. I had expected the linen to get at least a bit dirty from all of the travel but it still holds its shape! I love that the side tabs can come undone for journeys that need a little extra room, and the bag fits perfectly under the seat on an airplane when I want to sneak on two carry-ons!"

Sophie’s Roma, 1.5 Years Old

‘I’m oddly unprecious about my most treasured possessions. I really use them: and I need them to be prepared for a bumpy ride. I never save anything special in a dust bag to be admired. My Roma is white (of all colours) and is totally untarnished almost two years later. It’s been to raucous dinners, polo matches, garden parties, concerts and fashion shoots. It’s been on trains, planes, boats, pub tables, dashboards and bar tops. It’s stood the test of time, and only looks better. I wish I could say the same about my shoes.’

Javas’s Vagabond Duffle, 1 Year Old

"The perfect bag for a weekend away, this suede Vagabond has become my go-to in the last few months. From various road trips with my family to work days that require extra carrying room, this bag always gets the job done. The leather becomes more supple with each wear, yet feels sturdy as ever which you can feel by the way the it's reinforced."

Melissa’s Many Days Toiletries Pouch, 3 Years Old

“I am so proud of this material. In order to print on a fabric, it needs to be flat, like a canvas.  However, I have always been enamored with linen–I love the slub lines, the texture and the subtle imperfections. While you can put a coating on top of a canvas to create texture, it goes against my firm stance on only using natural materials. So we developed a method that we flatten our linen, print on it, then wet it and stretch it so the natural grain returns, and then we do a light coating to seal it against water. The result allows it to patina and age just as beautifully as our leathers.”
