The World of Métier: Kettle's Yard

Nestled in a quiet corner of Cambridge, is a simple house filled with beautiful objects. Former home of H.S (Jim) Ede, a curator at the Tate in the 20s and 30s, and his wife, Helen, The House at Kettle's Yard was the perfect location to photograph Métier Home.

With remarkable works by Joan Miró, Constantin Brancusi and Barbara Hepworth throughout, yet perfectly lived-in, and far from a sterile museum, Kettle's Yard embodied everything we wanted our home collection to be: Luxuries for modern life, meant to be enjoyed everyday and for generations to come.

Jim accumulated this impressive collection and "carefully positioned these artworks alongside furniture, glass, ceramics and natural objects with the aim of creating a harmonic whole." Eventually, students would be invited to the home for personal tours guided by Jim himself.

The house remains exactly how Jim and Helen have left it. One can find artworks in every room and every corner, to be enjoyed comfortably without the pressure of an inaccessible museum.
